While we would all like to think that the law makers of this country know exactly what they are talking about when it comes to guns and gun-control. Unfortunately, they’re almost always wrong. These days, it seems most law-makers and politicians just make up the law as they see fit. And “The Media” simply decides what is truth and “reports” it. 2nd Amendment misrepresentation is everywhere.
A perfect example of 2nd Amendment misrepresentation are the dreaded “assault rifles” and “automatic weapons.” Anytime a leftist politician steps up to the microphone or topics of guns and gun control come up in mainstream media you’ll hear it. What they’re almost always referring to, however, are regular ol’ plain-jane semi-automatic rifles.
And even if they were really referring to, what the ATF classifies as, “machine guns,” they’re still wrong. Because they act as if such firearms can be bought right off the shelf of any mom-and-pop gun shop. In reality, “automatic rifles” are highly regulated NFA-restricted items and to obtain them requires much more than the ATF Form 4473 and an on-the-spot background check.
Another grand misrepresentation revolves around the law-makers’ attempts to strip us of our 2nd Amendment right: “The right to keep and bear arms.”
If you haven’t spent any time thinking about why the politicians and law-makers of this glorious country would want to strip its citizens of one of the most important tools with which this country was built, you should. Some people honestly believe it’s due to gun violence. It’s a much easier pill to swallow than the truth.
The truth is that gun-control has very little to do with guns and everything to do with control.
Those pushing for “gun-control” want to control the people as much as possible. And the first step in imposing an “elected” dictatorship is to strip the common citizen of the ability to meaningfully defend himself. They make it more palatable by pointing out every single story of a gun-related death or injury – exaggerating, twisting, or all-together fabricating the “facts.”. Frankly, it doesn’t even matter if the things they say regarding guns and gun-control make any sense at all.
You can head over to Guns Save Lives and check out some of the stupid things politicians have said to try and convince the American people to give up their guns.
They know that to simply take our guns is near impossible. But they’re hoping that, by scaring us into submission, they can convince us to give them away freely.
An unarmed citizenry is a submissive citizenry.
If you’re not yet convinced of the willingness of some to speak in spite of their ignorance, check out the Tweet from “journalist,” Ryan J. Reilly at right and consider what is, perhaps, one of the only humorous stories to come out of Ferguson, MO.
Granted, he did seek clarification. But there are people who are as uninformed as Mr. Reilly appeared to be and saw only this post without the forthcoming correction. To them, those earplugs will forever be rubber bullets. Clearly, not everything you see in the media, especially regarding firearms and the 2nd Amendment is true.
And since what we believe informs how we vote (and if you don’t vote… you need to) you need to do your own research first. We can’t just accept what the media and politicians are telling us. If we do, you can bet that our votes will willingly and cheerfully give away the very rights upon which our country was founded.
